The title of my piece is Un Posto al Sole. The phrase "un posto al sole" in Italian means "a place in the sun". This painting is of a pathway that my cousins and I used to walk to the beach, situated in little village called Condofuri Marina in the south of Italy. This is the town my grandparents grew up in where it is always sunny and hot. The sun blazes down, scorching your skin but the olive trees provide the tiniest amount of shade to give you a chance to breathe. The path is peaceful and comforting. This painting is driven by a sense of love and admiration for my grandparents' hometown. As I apply the brushstrokes of acrylic paint on the canvas, I am reminded of the moments we have shared together, the joys and sorrows we have experienced, and the bonds that tie us together.
