Untitled 2023 is a collection of automatic drawings from my sketchbook. The pieces are arranged in a way that conceals them, which transforms the individual works into an instillation. The works are abstract in nature due to being automatic, and the viewer is free to make their own conclusions about the works.
By arranging the drawings on the floor and walls of the hallway, it gives the impression that the work is accidental, which plays into the idea of an automatic drawing. Additionally, it connects the drawings to the building they were made in.
I chose not to title the collection as I am generally opposed to labels, and a title would be just that. A title would create room for me (the artist) to manipulate the viewer’s perception of the piece. Like I said, I want the viewers to come to their own conclusions about the work.
